What is Law Enforcement Exploring?
Exploring is a program designed by Learning for Life (a sub-division of the Boy Scouts of America) for young adults, both male and female, ages 14 (and completed 8th grade) to 20 that share an attraction to a specific career such as law enforcement. Many different law enforcement agencies sponsor explorer programs in the eduation of participants to become our future law enforcement officers or to have a career in law enforcement. The program provides an ideal link between the academic environment and the real world.
Student Benefits:
Members of the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association (TLEEAA) provide youth participants a variety of insights in the law enforcement career through a mixture of hands-on training and education. Explorers that belong to a law enforcement post will receive training in many different areas and practice their new skills in competitions against explorers from other agencies. Law enforcement posts are run much like the police/sheriff with members of different ranks with different responsibilities. Explorers also will be given the opportunity to become post leaders and may practice and learn leadership skills that may be used the rest of their life.
Nationally, over 33,000 Explorers and 8,425 adult volunteers participate in Law Enforcement Exploring. The program highlights include: the National Law Enforcement Exploring Leadership Academies, ride-alongs, career achievement awards, National Law Enforcement Exploring Conferences, and scholarship opportunities.
